On Thursday, October 26, 2017, the ballroom at the Holiday Inn, University of Memphis will be beautifully transformed by our dedicated volunteers into an elegant wonderland. Nearly 500 guests will gather to savor a gourmet multi-course dinner prepared by chefs from the American Culinary Federation—and served by our fun-loving celebrity chefs! Andy Childs and his band will get everyone dancing after dinner! Our teddy bear surprises* and silent auction add an exciting element to an already very festive evening.
The gala is our most successful fundraiser every year. Thanks goes to our dedicated committee, headed up by Almida Smith and Georgia Smith. *Teddy Bear Surprises are a unique and popular part of the Chefs’ Celebrity Gala. Gift certificates for goods and services donated by local businesses and individuals are placed inside envelopes attached to adorable teddy bears. The bears sell for $250, $500 and $1,000. Every year the Teddy Bears sell out quickly and include items like jewelry, travel vouchers, weekend vacations, and restaurant gift certificates. Part of the fun is not knowing what you have purchased until you open the envelope! There is also a small silent auction at the gala.
