Memphis Child Advocacy Center

Volunteer Opportunities

Ambassador
By using your own personal and professional networks, you can cultivate opportunities to promote the CAC and raise awareness of child sexual abuse. Hours: As available.

Administrative Support
Behind-the-scenes administrative volunteers help with mailings, data entry, filing and other administrative tasks which are an invaluable asset to the Center, and free up staff to provide direct services. Hours: As available.

Student Interns
Graduate and undergraduate students earn college credit and valuable job experience through internships at the Memphis Child Advocacy Center. Student interns become vital members of the CAC staff, volunteering 10-20 hours per week over the course of one or two semesters. Our internships offer the benefit of training and experience working at a successful, vital non-profit organization serving the community. The CAC is not able to financially compensate interns.

Group Opportunities

Volunteer Work Groups
You can help organize a volunteer work group with friends from your business or workplace, house of worship, school and community group. We'll work with you to tailor a project to fit your group's interests and availability. Some examples of such successful projects include:

  • Wish list: We maintain a list of items needed for the playroom and to support services; a group can help inventory and replace these items;
  • Day of Service: Many organizations have spent a day helping with special volunteer projects, such as sprucing up the Center and grounds.
"Bearing It Together"

Volunteer Opportunities

Through "Bearing It Together", each child served at the CAC may select a teddy bear of his or her choice. Children are encouraged to take the bear to therapy, court, and wherever else they may need some extra comfort.

These bears are donated by generous individuals and community groups. When collecting bears, it is best to look for a variety of colorful, brand new, medium and large sized friendly and generic (not advertising or seasonal) bears. All bears need to be safe for young children.

To learn more about donating a bear or other ways you can help abused children, contact the Volunteer Services office at 901.888.4359 or
