Professional Training
This training is designed to provide child-serving professionals (i.e., teachers, daycare workers) with the tools they need to recognize, respond, and report appropriately when child abuse is suspected. The training includes:
- Prevalence
- Definitions and indicators
- How to respond when a child discloses
- Reporting law requirements and protections
- Ongoing response to the abused child
Training topics include Sexual Abuse, Physical Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Neglect, and The Correlation Between Domestic Violence and Child Abuse.
Special Training for Professionals Dealing with Child Sexual Abuse Cases
When resources permit, the MCAC offers large group professional training opportunities several times annually. These cross-training programs are designed to enhance the skills of the CPIT, but also benefit a variety of disciplines involved in the field of child abuse and neglect. Trainings offered previously include: "Recent Legal Developments in Child Abuse and Neglect," "Web-Wise Professionals—Internet Safety," "Investigation of Fatal Child Abuse," and "A Guide to Treating Complex Attachment Disorders."
